Responsibilities Include: 
This position is responsible for providing expertise related to the company's implementation of the 10 CFR 50, 10 CFR 71, 10 CFR 26, and 10 CFR 73. The candidate will have knowledge and expertise in the applicable Quality Assurance (QA) Codes and Standards (ANSI standards and associated Regulatory Guides). The candidate will be responsible for providing interpretations of the QA Program Descriptions and the QA Program Manual. This position also provides consistency in the implementation of the Progress Energy Nuclear Oversight Assessment Process. The candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance of the Nuclear Oversight Section (NOS) assessment process including training and qualification for the new NOS assessors. This also includes maintaining the NOS assessment plan and assessment schedule, NOS procedures, and other generic information needed in conducting NOS related activities. The candidate will interface with all levels of station and fleet personnel including Section Managers and Department Heads. The candidate will be required to become Lead Assessor qualified in accordance with ANSI N45.2.23 and will serve as Lead Assessor and Assessor on Nuclear Oversight Section assessments at each of the nuclear plants. Responsibilities include developing assessments plans, training peer assessors, managing the assessment team, performing entrance and exit meetings, developing assessment reports, and associated follow up activities.
Qualifications Include: 
The candidate will serve as the sponsor of the NOS procedures. This includes being a knowledgeable individual for NOS activities, conducting programmatic corrective action investigations, providing leadership for the unit, revising procedures on an as needed basis, and mentoring new NOS assessors in the performance based assessment process. Position requires a Bachelor's degree and 5 - 7 years like-work experience. Four years of like-work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree, or combination of education and like-work experience totaling 9+ years. The candidate will have the required training, education, and experience in order to provide information on all aspects of the Quality Assurance Program required by 10 CFR 50 App B. In depth knowledge of 10 CFR 50 App B, 10 CFR 71, 10 CFR 26, 10 CFR 73, QA Codes and Standards (ANSI Standards and Regulatory guides), and INPO Performance Criteria is required. Nuclear plant operations experience preferred. Individuals without a technical degree who have nine years of commercial nuclear power plant experience will be considered. The candidate must be capable to respond and participate as a member of the Emergency Response Organization. Career level. Fully competent in use of both principles and application. Works independently on tasks/projects with limited supervision. Receives guidance only unusual or complex projects or issues. Identifies problems and possible solutions and takes appropriate action for resolution. Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 5+ years professional experience.
